Elwood is a lovely fawn brush coat puppy who hasn’t had a very good start in life.

In September his owner took him to the vet and was told Elwood needed eye surgery at a cost of $1400.00. Days later Elwood’s owner took him to a boarding kennel and booked him in for one week. She never returned to pick him up and he ended up in the pound.

With the help of two other dog adoption agency’s, Pet Rescue and Jet Pets, Shar Pei Rescue has been able to “spring” Elwood and get him the surgery he desperately needed. Thank you to those people – you know who you are!

Now back to Elwood, great with people and dogs alike. He has basic doggy manners inside and out. He is learning to walk on the lead, and learning to sit for treats and generally just wants to love and be loved, although from Elwood’s perspective, and from all he has been through, this is all a little scary. This boy needs a special home where he might have a female doggy friend and caring two legged friends who will be able to give this young man the time and attention he so deserves.

Elwood will need sleeping quarters inside the house, somewhere cool to shelter from the hash Australian climate and a stable diet of quality vet kibble, chicken necks, minced chicken carcass, fish, and yoghurt (not all at once lol). Elroy is available for considerably less than the cost of his vet work @$600. He is currently recovering from his eye surgery, micro chipping, desexing operations, and vaccinations, but he will be available for adoption by Christmas Eve if there is a good Samaritan out there that would like to make this boy’s Christmas an extra special one.

Note: Elwood was originally listed as Elroy an 11 mth old pei, but since being assessed by our specialist vet, it has been confirmed that he is no older that 24 weeks, probably younger. Hence his name and age change.
